We live in times of dominating mass:
Mass-culture, mass-technology, mass-ego.
Their mass-ambitions easily surpass
All old discoveries - by kilo, mega, giga.
Mass-culture makes them millions in a whim,
And kills all chances for a thoughtful culture.
Success of the commercial mainstream
Ensures that values head for departure.
No place for Mozart in the times of rap;
Shakespeare survives by mere reputation;
The talents take all kinds of sinful steps
To gain access to crowd's adoration.
The arts degrade; high levels can't be kept
When they're consum'd by basic and inept.
