When Schubert paid for dinner with his songs

When Schubert paid for dinner with his songs,
He couldn't imagine times of modern music,
Where Eminem and Britney Spears belong
To pantheons of giants, with past refused.

Electric wonders bring us other rhythms
And mask the clear lack of a genuine talent,
If one considers the music underneath,
It is devoid of quality and barren.

Like science, new music grows ever large,
With millions earned by very simple inventions.
Consumerism supports its noisy march,
Its primitive and mercantile intentions.

When money dominates the world of art,
Expect not quality but cultural hazard.
