The glimpse of history is visible today
In shared roots and similar expressions:
The common past exists in modern days
Of the combined European nations.
The same ideas of the common jokes,
In Padua, in Hamburg and in Bristol;
Londinium is roman in its docks,
And French "bistro" derives from Russian "bystro".
The Latin can be trac'd in Portuguese,
And Russians read French-named "belletristics";
"Stuck" and "anzatz" are German modest lease,
And Greeks originated chrematistics.
We are so close in our common home;
In Swedish - "hem", in Russian - also "dom".
