Inspired verses
For clouds, resembling worn-out patch,
For sunken cheek of autumn wraith
A perfect match.
To life recall me- as you fade
To golden glare, eluding thus
A hopeless pilgrimage, and shade
The Land of Oz.
To life recall me- faint storm, (as
Though shivers run down window glass)
Of all the things that come to pass,
Is scarce alas.
To life recall me- light from lamps
Retreats by jerks, leapfrogs the train,
Yet childlike, on shoulder naps
A ruddy stain.
To life recall me- lurks the thought
In my mind- dozing windswept grief
Inquired of my spectre:"Hope
You care to live."
