As happy loves are claim'd to be the same,
So are the verses of the happy lovers:
Describing what we're trying to sustain:
The force of life that nurtures us and governs.
Not interesting for those who recognise
Relationships of similar coherence,
And even less amusing for the wise
Who have denied attachments, pleasures, fears.
Still, I attempt to formulate the bliss,
Which is the same for many other lovers,
To entertain the minds and maybe please
And to describe what binds and holds us.
I write the same, with little change or growth:
I think of you, that's why I write on love.
