The secret of Shakespeare has puzzled the world:
While challenged by many other poets,
He still remains as modern and as bold
As when he wrote his ever-lasting sonnets.
What secret brought him through the changing time
And made us listen to old-fashion'd verses?
Why do we find them touching and divine
How do they live as real, exciting voices?
The secret is in saying known truths
By using words, in beauty unexpected:
Of death and love, and other grand pursuits
That cannot be by any heart rejected.
The best of poets know secret things
That move the souls of the human beings.
