about
The project Sun Cats arose in 1999, as another team of Valery Belinov, who performed blues standards - from the Delta to the modern Chicago blues. The initiative was shown recently by musician from Arkhangelsk, Yuri Silkin, who appeared in St. Petersburg in those years. Like many guitarists, Yuri Silkin received a blues blessing from the teacher, chosen by him on his arrival in the North Capital - his teacher was the blues king of St. Petersburg - KING B, recognized by the great Goloshchyokin. For Yuri it was prestigious to study with the outstanding blues musician of Russia - a participant of many international festivals and enjoying constant demand from a wide audience of blues fans. He greatly valued this opportunity and, thanks to faith to his dream, befriended the teacher. Feeling his new strength, Yuri suggested an alliance to Val, first in a duet. Then to the project, Yuri invite his son Dmitry Silkin, on the keyboard. Valery often joked - we are like an early Beatles played without drums. Yuri reminded that at the dawn of the Beatles they had a name - Moon Dogs. So, there was a name for our project - The Sun Cats. In the city began to appear an incredible number of small cellars and the first floors, where the program of the group was at the right time, because it was impossible to play loudly. The group provided a smart alternative to any team - without the drums and the chamber blues format quickly began to take root in the city, for which the blues turned out to be a revelation. Perhaps there was the time in Old England itself, the pre-Beatles times. In one of the small clubs of the new format - Neo Jazz Club - this concert was happen.
