Beware This Poem Does Not Exist...

(Навеяно стихотворением "Beware: Do Not Read This Poem" by Ishmael Reed, но тематика здесь иная.)

Here are the ghosts of words, said in vain,
Born in a person, away, and in pain,
In foreign worlds.  Fate had taken a twist:
Here is a poem that does not exist.

“Some friends can fade like a flash,”  we’ve been told,
“Feelings are phantoms, by fate we’re tolled.”
Often, our lives, specks of sand in a pile,
Touch others’ minds just for a while.

Wouldn’t it be easy to open your eyes,
Grasp others’ messages, grant your replies
Send back an answer, a flashlight of thought,
Tear down the curtains that destiny brought?

No.  We’re gone once we fade from their sight,
Though we had thought they would stay by our side.
If you’re upset, don’t be banging your fist:
You’ve read a poem that does not exist.
