Six Salinger References in A Single Poem
In the rye,
Where under the pretense of play on the sly
Come kids,
And, persistently learning to fly,
Stain fingers with dust
From the lightbulbs up high;
Where, crossing the streets,
One might just vitrify
By accident,
Not having bidden goodbye;
Where glass disappears
In the sand and the blue
Just leaving a blank sheet of paper in lieu,
First person in view
Is you.
