Memorial Day

 Memorial Day in the United States is celebrated annually on the last Monday of May, is a day off . On this day , we remember those who died, while serving as the armed forces of the country.
In cemeteries American flags placed on the graves .
On my Brooklyn street , there is only one Half Staff flag flying as a symbol of respect and mourning!
Once I counted 10 Half Staff flags on my street...
Not anymore.... My neighbor had a flagpole near the house , such metal vertical stand on which the flag is raised . My neighbor died , the house was sold a flagpole , trees and a greenhouse was demolished , courtyard cemented....It hurts

Today I remember my neighbor , who was not killed on duty , but died in old age of 80 ! When a flag on  his flagpole was at Half Staff, I knew he paid tribute to the dead! Instead of Half Staff flags, fluttering barbecue smoke.... Where disappeared flags and those who posted them? I do not know..
