They lived as time went by
With love, with pain, with glory.
But till the very last good-bye
They didn't know the end of their story.

He thought he would forever see her
In the morning light,
And kiss her crimson lips
Six thousand times good night.

He loved the sweetest laughter.
He drank her bitter tears.
She was his silent sacrament.
She was his ghostly fears.

With every touch he grew insane,
And wrapped her soul in jealous pain.
With every kiss his live turned stronger-
She couldn't bear it any longer.

The autumn skies cried pouring rain
To quench ferocious tongues of flame
That burnt her restless soul within,
And turned his virtue to her sin.

She could no more be loved and cherished.
She knew - to stay would mean to perish.
She left him in the morning light.
He never kissed her lips good night.

He drank her tears never after,
And never heard the sweetest laughter,
As since the morning when she fled
He's been alone. He has been dead.
