My lady is so noble, gentle, graceful

My lady is so noble, gentle, graceful…
That when a stranger meets her eyes, so stern but dear -
One dares not look within her kind and piercing gazes.

She flows along, among admiring faces,
Her style so pious, elegant, austere
The Heavens, seems, have sent my Lady here
To prove that Miracles exist and doubts efface.

A single look upon her beauty – you’re inspired,
A look of hers will leave your heart so tender –
A foreign feeling, if a stranger to her magic…

Her lips will kiss the air – gently, sagely:
A spirit springs of love and care, never-ending,
It bids our souls: “Now live and breathe, aspire!”

By Dante Alighieri,
