Fairytale of photosynthesis
All the foliage moved in tune.
Drowsy sun was shining brightly
It was peaceful afternoon.
A sunbeam was skipping lively,
Touched a leaflet on the lime,
Which has napped a bit so lovely
Just enjoying summertime.
“Hey, you there, what’s the matter?
You’ve disturbed my sweetest dream!
Now for you it will be better
Not to skip and not to beam! -
(Yawning leaflet started screaming) -
I don’t need your nasty light.
I was sleeping, I was dreaming.
But you’ve broken my delight.”
“Please, don’t shout, little silly.
Listen heedfully instead.
Your simplicity is killing
Get it out of your head -
(The sunbeam has said it loud) -
I’ll explain you what and why.”
Even little fleecy cloud
Started looking from the sky.
“Well, I think it’s time to show
Something curious and more
Just for you, my friend, to know
That the light is not your foe.
Have you heard of vital air?
Photosynthesis, membrane?
I can surely declare
That you shouted in vain.
Plants do so important business:
Drinking carbon dioxide,
Disengage with light assistance
Vital air outside!
So we are to work together -
You and me, and don’t resist!
Photosynthesis will never
Stop until the light exists.”
