Abysmal tides

Down there in  deep abyss
They yearn for light.
The tides are strong and fast,
But soft,
Not when a storm draws near.
It doesn't reach the deep abyss,
They do not care for it down there.
Abysmal tides,
Black waters, where no light is seen,
The darkness shines through them.
Oh how I wonder what is hidden
Under the greatest weight of water
Under the swimming shoals and whales
Who see the light of day and night.
But now I see not them
I see the dark and fathomless abyss
We'll never truly know
Who can be lying there.
I've always longed
For the tremendous creatures of the myths.
But can we truly know
If those are just the myths?
