Me-To-You
Annie: a girl, the main character
Abby: a girl, Annie’s friend
Granny: Annie’s grandmother
The bear: Me-To You, the teddy bear
Annie: This is my bedroom.
Abby:
It looks like a toy-shop!
You have five collections of dolls!
I see here anything, really,
From Lego to different balls.
Annie:
My laptop.
It’s is very expensive.
In fact it is cooler than yours.
My mummy has bought me much better.
Advanced and with greater resource.
Abby:
Your laptop is great.
But… it’s getting late.
I think I’d better go.
Annie:
But… why? Please, wait. Oh, no!
My friend! She has gone.
I’m in terrible despair.
Granny:
I’ve found in the attic…
A wonderful bear. (She gives Annie a toy bear)
Annie:
A bear? But granny!
It doesn’t cost a penny!
Granny:
Its nose is as cold as ice. And blue.
But look how he’s smiling! I think he loves you!
Annie:
Oh, granny! My toys are brand new!
And this is an old Me-To-You.
Just look! It is shabby!
Granny:
It’s lovely, my baby.
It’s old but it’s nice. It’s got loving eyes.
Your friend will come back. Don’t be sad.
And play with the bear. He’s glad!
You’ll like it, my dear.
Annie: I’ll put it… well, here. (She puts the bear into the box)
Annie’s sad song:
I wonder why, I can’t but cry.
Hello evening, sunshine, good-bye!
Annie falls asleep. The bear becomes alive. He gets out of the box, comes to Annie and wakes her up with his song.
The bear’s song:
Hello, hello! Can you clap your hands? (Clap-clap)
Hello, hello! Can you clap your hands? (Clap-clap)
Can you stretch up high? Can you touch your toes?
Can you turn around? Can you say hello?
The bear: Good evening, Annie.
Annie: Who are you?
The bear: A teddy bear. Me-to-you.
Annie: But… tell me… tell me … why?
The bear: I don’t want you to cry.
Play with me, dance with me.
I am funny, you can see.
Annie: Let’s sing my song now!
The bear: Yes! But tell me how.
Annie’s song:
With my foot I tap, tap, tap.
With my hand I clap, clap, clap.
Right foot first, left foot then.
Round and round can back again.
Annie: I’ve never had such a wonderful guest.
Of all the toys you are really the best!
Annie falls asleep again. Abby comes back. She knocks on the door. Annie awakes.
Annie: Who’s there? It’s Abby!
She’s back! I’m so sorry!
Abby: It’s ok. Shall we play?
Annie: This bear is my friend.
Come on, please, shake its hand.
Abby: But Annie, it doesn’t cost a penny!
It’s old and it’s shabby.
Annie: It’s wonderful, Abby.
The end.
