Temptation
You look at me inducing me with pain
Of expectations – here I go again,
Unable to arrest them or withhold,
Overwhelmed and troubled to the brim,
Allowing your powers to mould
My feelings in accordance to your whim.
Why do you do this? And this isn't blame
But an attempt to understand your game
Between the lines that were never told,
Behind your smile that touched my inner core.
It’s like a constant puzzle manifold:
What goals do you want with me to score?
When nothing can be done to bring us close,
You radiate through me with such a dose
A message with an eloquence of light
That makes me want to merge with you and blend,
Disabling me to run from you or fight,
And I’m dreading where this might end.
As if a flash of roller-coaster ride
Brush all the worlds around me aside,
Producing an excitement mixed with terror,
A state of trance - a reverie, a shock,
And yet, I guess that this is just an error
Of judgement that had hit me like a rock.
Aware that this can be just a phase -
My body and my mind all ablaze,
That this is nothing more than a temptation
And my emotions are my own rods,
Which cause my heart such mighty tribulation,
I beg for mercy – either yours or God’s.
