The perfect case

There's nothing but the sand tying us together,
And nothing but the sun breaking us apart...
I know the story's written and keeping us like feathers,
Just hanging on until we part.

I know you won't be like John Bender,
Or anything like Lloyd in time,
You won't be singing A capella
To help me fall asleep at night.

I know you won't be making coffee,
Because you like your tea instead,
And something's telling me, I know you,
Although I'm not sure how just yet.

I know that you find things so simple,
It's actually the perfect case.
And sure it sounds quite dreadful,
We might just never get our Place...

There's nothing but the sand or maybe it's the sun,
Or maybe it's the sea, the rain, the time.
There's nothing but the future, the one we cannot see.
There's nothing but the fortune, of who we get to be.
