Hate and Love
Despite this crazy world,
Despite this hell on earth,
I wanted - in a word -
To wish you Happy Birth…
Day, night or in between,
On firm land or at sea,
I hate the TV screen
For what I have to see.
For what I have to feel,
For what I have to know.
Over a bloody meal,
I watch a gruesome show.
I watch the uncut wheat
That stands and falls in vain.
I hate this deadly heat,
I’d kill for little rain.
The rain that, piece to piece,
Would stitch the sky above,
And maybe, bring us peace
And, ultimately – love.
