An Acrostic Sonnet

Elysian Fields*, Valhala*, Eden, Heaven –
Let names of bliss forever bless the tongue…
In many ways we speak of beauty: lavender*,
Zenana*, poems, eyes forever young…

Ah, but her eyes are routes to the Arctic,
Botanic fields, and tropics, worlds beyond
Eternity, infinity…Her tartness
Tastes ever sweet, in dreams of distant yonder.

How could you tell what dwells within a lady? –
Gelato, arsenic – a thousand other moods;
Revolves the world around suns and planets
Or woman’s beauty? – Leaves the answers moot…

Such ponderings aside, this planet wounded
Sees no beauty like a real WOMAN.
