Johnny Dodds
Johnny Dodds – a gifted jazz musician, playing clarinet & saxophone.
By his musical style Goodman & Dorsey were later inspired & drawn.
Known as one of the Louis Armstrong’s “Hot Seven” and “Hot Five,”
Dodds was virtuoso, successfully recording as well as performing live.
Promoting, representing New Orleans’ music, he achieved popularity.
Johnny exhibited fluency, talent, professionalism, unique individuality.
His style of playing - penetrating, touching & containing emotionality.
Dodds always did his best, without compromising impeccable quality.
He had progressed participating in, perfecting collective improvisation.
Johnny delivered music with much heartedness, power and innovation.
He owned a high tenor voice and clarinet sound’s execution versatility.
When listening to Dodds’ performance, music seemed full of possibility.
While an original, accomplished jazz artist, Johnny was humble, simple.
Yet he dedicated himself to music, becoming a jazz movement symbol.
On April 12th falls Johnny Dodds’ birthday, we think of his musical art.
He generously contributed his talent & efforts to jazz, doing his part.
