Отменно прочен и спокоен
In taste of smart old times and now till

At every turn were there high quarters,
В гостиной штофные обои,
In salon the damask wall papers,
Царей портреты на стенах,
Portraits of kings on every wall
И печи в пестрых изразцах.
And ovens in Dutch tile like stole.
Все это ныне обветшало,
All this was then impaired slightly,
Не знаю, право, почему;
I didn’t know in fact just why;
Да, впрочем, другу моему
Yes, really by the friend of mine
В том нужды было очень мало,
Such things accepted were so lightly,
Затем, что он равно зевал
Because he anyway did yawn
Средь модных и старинных зал.
Among antiques though that was wrong.
