Scions of the dawn II

The day was born before the night,
The wrong was born before the right,
The foul came before the just
But flames of love preceded lust.
She gave to us the world of flame,
The world that carried forth her name.
A world of order, of the Good
Alas, we never understood.

The men in towns forgot her soon,
They prayed to sea, they prayed to moon,
They fought for causes of her foes
She was betrayed by those she chose.
She gave us signs to show the way
We failed, much to her dismay,
The sinners burned to ease her ire,
She turned the world into a pyre.

But she is just, and when we called
She marked the true ones’ heads with gold
The branded ones revived the land
They walked together, hand in hand,
They built majestic halls of fire
They cleansed their souls of desire.
The Goddess turned her head away
And not one man had gone astray.
