Whence the sorrow come
there the lanterns shine, and the cars are abuzz
and above, lies the night, and over night, flies the Moon
and tonight's shade of Moon, is the blood-drop maroon
House stands, lights ablaze, windows lead wide and far
and it's strange and unseen, whence the sorrow has come
and you're alive and well, great wide open around
so can you answer yourself, whence the sorrow has come?
Paradise all around, mists and riddles abound
Splendor ruling supreme, deuces heard, deuces seen
And they all cry 'Hooray!' and right on they all advance
And over all of this brave new day arises
