Grand concert

Diane looks in the mirror at her smashing night gown,
A grand performance ahead. She’s nervous a bit,
Perhaps ahead of her is a triumph and a major shift
In her life and career. She can’t let her promoter down,
Cannot fail on stage tonight. ‘Cause at stake is all she got,
She’s performing jazz and blues. She must look hot,
She has to amaze everyone, shock every single spectator,
And after the spotlights are turned off, a little later
A star of sweet success will shine on her graciously
She’s thrilled inside, awaiting so eagerly, so anxiously
That moment when the world will see her inner beauty,
Her inner world, creative talent which can’t be dilluted
By the mundane reality of the real world. She takes a cab
And with utmost confidence she goes to the stage to grab
The biggest prize of her life. She will see the torch of fame,
The endless sound of applause and the admiration of fans,
And after a few minutes she’s in spotlight. She stands
In front of millions. Here comes the moment of truth,
The moment she’s awaited throughout her tumultuous youth,
The moment of a cherished dream. She sings magnificently,
The melodic tunes spread marvellously across the dark hall,
Song after song she gets more confident. And now she sees all
Standing and clapping, screaming out the words of admiration,
And in her heart there is a feeling of endless joy and jubilation,
And she walks off the stage to the endless shouting of thousands
And after this wonderful day she knows that whatever happens
Will be for good. She’s a star, a woman of eminence and grandeur
And she rides home in a limousine with her old-time friend,
Realizing that life can be a fairy tale with a happy end.
