Childhood

By Tom Abdulali (my pen-name)

It’s never easy to forget the years of childhood
When everything was so easy, undisturbing and nice,
When you lived upon others’ expense and advice,
When the little concerns you had didn’t bother
When you were taken care of and loved like no other;
You still remember the nice little games and silly chatter,
Your school friends, classrooms and teachers,
Your first tape recorder and first VCR,
Your first love. And now thinking of who you are,
Of your troubles and challenges on the road ahead,
You’re saddened and rejoice at the same time, and yet
You pay tribute to your parents and the work they’ve done
And still cherish the wonderful days that are gone.
