By Tom Abdulali (pen-name)

The days that you cherish dearly come and go
Just like everything is transient in this life we know.
Once you were young and full of careless hopes
And now you open the old envelopes
Of your old love letters you once received,
To remember that you were once loved and deceived
And perhaps across the ocean somewhere
Some others would open from time to time
The letters you wrote as well. And you sigh
Realizing that those days have flown by
So rapidly and evanescently like a gust of wind
And you embrace a new philosophy now
And against your will you decide
Never to be carried away with the past
And be always content with the world outside.
