Johnny had generously shared his love for jazz, passion and ambition.
He had expressed his language, style, technique fulfilling music mission.
Griffin possessed drive, innovative spirit, creativity, skill, determination.
He had performed, played balads with a distinctive rhythm, intonation.
Johnny was known for his speedy and powerful delivery or execution.
He kept refining mastery, advanced, moved forward toward evolution.
Griffin collaborated with Monk, Gillespie, Blakey, Powell, Green, Cobb.
He had improvised playing his favorite, best hard bob, post-bob and bob.
Johnny recorded with Mobley, Basie, Roach, Terry, Jones and Coltrane.
He had enjoyed playing with fellow jazz geniuses, could not complain.
April 24th – birthday of Johnny Griffin, a wonderful music professional.
His vision for music tempos and harmonic nuances was unconventional.
We do remember Johnny, his true gift, passion for his art and dedication.
Griffin was an example of versatility, diversity, exquisite sense of fashion.
