Я посеяла...

Я посеяла руку – пальма взросла,
Я сердце посеяла – вышел бальзам.
Тогда посадила желание,
Но выскочил шип и вдруг:
В хмуром небе грозы дыхание,
 Раскатами грянул гром,
 А земля лишь исторгла стон.

The Bourne

Underneath the growing grass,
Underneath the living flowers,
Deeper than the sound of showers:
There we shall not count the hours
By the shadows as they pass.

Youth and health will be but vain,
Beauty reckoned of no worth:
There a very little girth
Can hold round what once the earth

Рубеж.

Под травою растущей,
Под цветами живыми,
Глубже, чем доносятся ливни,-
Там времени счета не будет.

Ни к чему – ни здоровье,ни юность,
Красота не имеет цены.
Там - слишком узкий,
Очень тесный участок земли.

Gone For Ever
 
O happy rosebud blooming
Upon thy parent tree,
Nay, thou art too presuming
For soon the earth entombing
Thy faded charms shall be,
And the chill damp consuming.


O happy skylark springing
Up to the broad blue sky,
Too fearless in thy winging,
Too gladsome in thy singing,
Thou also soon shalt lie
Where no sweet notes are ringing.


And through life's shine and shower
We shall have joy and pain;
But in the summer bower,
And at the morning hour,
We still shall look in vain
For the same bird and flower.

Ушедшие навсегда.

О счастливый юный бутон,-
Родителя-куста любимое созданье!
И тебе предстоит увяданье,
И тебя поглотит сырая земля,
Уйдет в могилу и твоё очарованье!
 
О,жаворонок счастливый,сладкоголосый,
Ты носишься в слишком бесстрашном полёте,
Совсем скоро и ты будешь взят,
Лежать тебе там, где никогда не звучат
Никакие сладкие  ноты.
 
Радостно ль будет иль горько,
Под солнцем или под звёздами,
Летом, в утренний час,
В дождь и вешнее вёдро
Будем тщетно глазами искать,-
Ту же птицу и ту же розу.
