Night Story for Daniella
I saw you as a beautiful Egyptian Cat, sitting on a rock.
When Sun came out, you looked at Sun and I could see that
it played in your eyes.
You had a proud and strong body.
Then Wind came to you. And the two of you started talking.
You asked, "Why do you blow so hard sometimes, that I can't see anything -
You raise the sand so high that people can't see each other...
They become angry and hurt one another.
And sometimes you blow so gently,
You nurture my hair and people smile and bring each other love?"
"I don't know," said Wind,
"Ask Sun, it makes me do it. It warms up Land and I fly to just play there."
Cat ask Sun, "Why you make some places so hot and don't make others even warm?"
Sun looked Egyptian Cat in the eyes and said,
"Do you like it when I come out in a morning?"
"Yes," said Cat," I love to see how you show your face behind these pyramids,
and everything becomes alive, and birds start singing."
'If I was to stay here all day and all night, how could you see me rising?"
"Oh," said Cat, "Now I know. I would not be able to see some things hidden in people -
what they try not to show me - when you are out. And I can see what they are hiding at night,
when they think they are covered by Night. My eyes can see at night!"
Sun looked down and smiled at Egyptian Cat.
And Cat laid down on her rock and fell asleep, until the next night, when she can see what is hidden.
