Bombing. 4th ball of Wool

Lelya was swinging on the poplar tree swing that her daddy hung for her last spring.
Woo Hoo! Lelya was rocketing right into the blue sky "whoa"! She was rushing slap-bang into the green shadow of the poplar.
Woo Hoo! Lelya saw some weird black dots in the sky. Then she heard a bumble bee buzzing  above her right ear. Whoa! No bug in sight, how funny - Lelya was puzzled.
Woo Hoo!  Suddenly, it started to thunder, as if she was at a firework display. Whoa! The blue sky suddenly blackened with swarms of airplanes.
"I wonder..",  Lelya started to ponder, but could not finish her thoughts, as her mum snatched her up into her arms, squeezing her tight and rushed down to the cellar.
"My poor little girl, my sweetheart,- mum kept repeating. "Stay right here, in the cellar, and do not go out! Listen to me, don't even think about going out. Do you understand! Under no circumstances! I'll be back in no time, I promise". Then mummy gave Lelya loads of kisses and ran away.

First Lelya was sitting quietly in the cellar. She could hear sirens wailing outside. Then she started observing  curious movements of dust particles whirling in the sun rays that  discretely slipped inside through the window shutters.
All of a sudden, the shutters swung open and her neighbour Vovka's face has popped up in the window. His face was all sooty and excited.
"Hey, why are you hiding here like a mouse? Let's go! If you knew what is happening out there!"
"But I gave my mummy a promise..." Lelya tried to explain..
"Don't be silly! We are gonna miss the most interesting stuff", exclaimed he and dragged her out of the window.
They hurried to the next street. And then... She didn't know what was happening.  She could  remember that the ground was shaking and breaking apart and  her mum running towards her, her face wreathed with fear.
"Mum! Mummy!" cried Lelya.
The world around her was exploding . Gigantic weird  black flowers were sprouting from the pavement, with a hail of rocks and dirt. She heard the sound of the most ferocious clap of thunder, the noise was deafening. Her mouth and nose were full of choking black smoke.
Then, as quickly as it had begun, the noise ceased and an eery silence descended.
"Mum, Mummy!" she cried once again, and  everything went black.
When Lelya awoke she was surrounded by grey hills of dust. Looking around she could see a smashed smoky mess lying  where her house had once stood,  panic-stricken people with dazed expressions shouted at one another from all around.
"Mum, Mummy,"- she kept whispering whilst struggling through debris. Her throat felt as though she was being strangled, she could hardly speak.
In the chaos her mum was nowhere to be seen.
