A Kitten. 2nd ball of wool
It was the most beautiful early spring morning ever. Cherry trees were blossoming splendidly, birds were singing cheerfully, and Lelya could not help singing along with them. Suddenly at the side of the road she spotted a tiny grey kitten. It was so itty-bitty, little Leyla did not even realise what she saw at first. The kitten was sitting on the pavement, watching the shoes of ignorant pedestrians, purring curiously. Not a single person looked down to notice even when it gave out a cry.
" Look, Mummy! A kitten! Poor poor kitten. Please, mum, let's take him home and give him some milk".
"All right, but only if you can pick him up in your hands by yourself".
It needs to be mentioned that Lelya was scared of cats. Well yes, she was a big girl, but nonetheless she was afraid of all cats, dogs and even of small funny parrots.
"Please mummy, could you pick him up in YOUR own hands? I'm scared, you know, but he must be starving and freezing.
"Well, Lelya, - answered her mum-, if you are still such a little girl,we have to leave the kitten here".
Then mum took Lelya's hand and headed home. Lelya was walking quietly and kept thinking about the kitten, sitting there all alone. She grew sadder and sadder.
"Alright!" she finally exclaimed, "I will take the kitten in my arms, let's go back".
"It's too late", said mum. "The kitten must have run away by now".
"Mummy, mummy, please let me run back there and see if he is still there, is that OK? I'll be back in no time, I promise!"
And the girl ran back for her life hoping to find the kitten.
Finally, she ran up to the baker shop and saw the kitten trotting playfully after his mummy- cat.
