The Coquette s Reply to Pushkin
I'd like to share the lines (slightly adapted as I'm not showing the whole thing here) that my friend Vera Mann has written in response to my translation of Pushkin's "To a coquette." (For my translation, see http://stihi.ru/2011/05/16/1144)
I personally think these lines are quite funny, persuasive, and talented, especially the last four, so I'm sharing them here.
The Coquette's Reply (by Vera Mann)
...............
Let's drink to youth that’s everlasting,
Good wine, cigars, young men so strong;
We’ll own our passion, and no passing
Of torch shall come till we’ve gone on!
And love is worth the end that’s tragic,
Magnanimous and knightly pure.
The lucky few who taste her magic
Will not be on the search for cure!
