Узник -The prisoner- пер. М. Ю. Лермонтова
Give me the clear light of day,
And the dark-eyed girl and also
The black-maned horse, and then
I shall kiss the young beauty so sweetly,
And then jump on horse in one time
And fly to the steppe, as the free wind,
To freedom longed-for I'll fly.
But the gap of the jail's so high, although,
The heavy door's closed by the lock,
The dark-eyed girl is far so,
In the pompous tower her's.
The good horse is alone in the green field,
Without any bridle he's grazing,
And jumping, and playing keenly,
And wind has spreaded his tail...
I'm alone. There's no any hope,
Only the bare walls around;
And the light of icon lamp is burning
Dimly, it seems going down;
Only I hear: behind the doors
The sentinel is going loudly
And measuring his steps ongoing,
Unrequited one and silent.
