There is no way to escape from your hugs,
Cruel mermaid, your songs lured me into sorrows!
Idle vagabond heard unforgettable voice,
And was lulled, at the same time becoming unconscious.
No doubts and fears – I was ready to meet
My new life under water among tender mermaids.
But, unfortunately, I didn't have any will
To be bound by your spells, staying captured for ages.
Plaintive songs in the moonlight enchanted my wits,
Maybe it seems that I have a chance to resist them!
It's illusion, I can't feel throb into my wrists
And my soul isn't enough to be paid as a ransom.
