Day After Day

Day after day, the Time tears off
The pages of my calendar.
I silently watch them fly away:
How many more till I see you again?

Another month is nearly gone.
I look at the neat rows of days
and wonder
How many more till I can be happy?

Every sunrise renews the promise,
Every sunset tightens the strangle-hold.
The moon is hiding again in the clouds -
It still doesn't have the answer
To the same old question of mine:
How much longer can I hang in there?

The stars are twinkling with pity,
But they are powerless to help me.
No one would ever tell me
When all my dreams will come true.

The wind sighs with me and goes -
It has no patience for waiting,
It's free to roam all four corners
Without a care in the whole wide world.

"Leave behind all this heartache,"
It whispers into my ears.
"Who cares when things will happen -
Maybe once in a blue moon."
