To the Homeland of R. Burns
Because many heroes have fought for its freedom;
For many a poet was charmed by the fabulous,
The breathtaking beauty of this rocky kingdom.
Its lakes and its vales are defended by mountains,
Which throw down the gauntlet to all coming strangers;
The spurs and the fissures are here in abundance –
For hundreds of years they’re like warrior angels.
But if you are up to have one of them conquered,
You’ll see for yourself why the landscape caused mirth
In all those who saw it, and why everyone calls it
The birthplace of Valor, the country of Worth!
