Donkey's Kindness
Piterka Badmaeva Olga
Each bears their own cross and Golgotha –
Do not presume yours surpasses Christ’s in pain...
translation by Guru.I
***
Villains are not honored in verse,
Their treachery is never a hymn.
Foolishness does not stem from fools alone,
Yet how often it is praised in song!
Grant, O Lord, Your blessing and grace,
Shield them from sorrow, tears, and disgrace.
Keep them safe from treachery’s sting,
From deceit and the harm it may bring.
We meet the gaze of the vile,
Revolted and writhing in anguish,
Yet with steadfast resolve, we do not turn away –
Purity cannot be slain.
Villains are not honored in verse,
They are written about, but never for.
If foolishness comes from donkeys,
Then I sing a hymn to their kindness.
Bestow upon you, O Lord, a kindness –
Even if donkey-like, let it endure.
For such kindness is a gem of purest water,
When set against human treachery.

Literal Translation
Donkey's Kindness
(Piterka Badmaeva Olga)
Literal English translation by Guru.I
* * *
Each person has their own cross and Golgotha —
Don’t think they suffer more than Christ…
They don’t write poems for scoundrels,
They don’t honor villainy with hymns.
Stupidity doesn’t always come from fools —
And yet how often they sing its praises…
May the Lord send you fortune,
And cover you with His blessing.
Protect you from sorrow and from weeping,
Keep you safe from human baseness.
Scoundrels are looked straight in the eyes —
Shuddering in horror, writhing in pain,
But not turning away — by sheer will —
Purity is indestructible.
They don’t write poems for scoundrels.
They write about them — not for them.
And if stupidity is taken from donkeys,
Then I sing a hymn to their kindness.
May God grant you kindness —
Even if it’s donkey-like, let it be enduring.
It’s a stone of the purest water
Compared to the vileness of human nature.

Donkey’s Kindness
(Piterka Badmaeva Olga)
Translated from heart to heart by Guru.I
* * *
Each soul has its cross and its Calvary too,
But don’t think yours outweighs the Christ’s due…
They write no poems for the vile —
No hymns for cowardice sung aloud.
Fools are not born of empty minds —
And yet their songs ring strangely proud.
May God descend and bless your fate,
With kindness wrap you, hold you close.
Keep you far from grief and hate —
And from the cruelty man can impose.
To the wicked — we must look straight on,
Though horror seizes every nerve,
Though pain would make us turn and run —
We hold our gaze. That’s what the pure deserve.
They write no poems for the vile —
They write of them — but never to.
And if foolishness is bred by donkeys,
Then let me sing their kindness through.
May God bestow you donkey’s grace —
Not noble, but enduring, plain.
A stone of water — clean in taste —
Compared to man’s deceit and shame.
