предельной высотой
был для себя он сам
Он был красив и гордый сам собою
И в меру терпелив и в меру был упрям
И кажется умён коль два противоречья
сухого материалиста с комплексом общественной морали
восторженностью вечного юнца утоляющего в миг свои печали
весьма благоприятно развивались в нём...При этом и при том
Порывы благородства рождаясь лихо отмирали ничем не замедляя
рост духовного уродства

Limit Height


Among all heights,
the highest one for him—
was he himself.

He was beautiful, proud of himself,
Patient—within reason,
Stubborn—within reason,
And seemed wise—
for he skillfully balanced
the dryness of a materialist
with a moralist’s pretense,
satisfying the fleeting whims
of an eternal youth.

It all flourished in him…
And yet,
bursts of nobility were swiftly dying,
never once delaying
the steady growth
of his spiritual deformity.
