Power of observation The Darwin Law

I like to observe you,
gazing into your face,
gently and with childish curiosity
smoothing your wrinkles,-
those contrasty-white, thoughtfully-deep
wrinkles-threads, and
small wrinkles–rays
that are so defenseless...

I like to watch you
when you are watching me,
as I brush my hair,
line and rouge my lips,
fettle my dress.
I like the next, when you are –
or is it “when we?” -
get smudged in lipstick,
entangled in hair, clothes,
hands, arms, whatever else…

I like to observe you
when you are completely exhausted from race
for a few fleeting seconds
of disappearing pleasure…
I like it afterwards,
when you gather remaining strength
and embrace me,
still eager for your affection,
still so much there...

I like to think
what do you think of me,
Noticing, probably,
everything but the obvious.
Sleeping together is not necessarily love.
It’s a strong one tamed another,
and the strongest
will survive.
It’s the Darwin Law.
