Господь! Сколь безнадежны все попытки
Сквозь немоту приблизиться к Тебе.
Средь многих прав, лишь право на ошибку
Моей судьбой оправдано вполне.

Как мотылек, что прянул, опаленный,
Из пламени в сгустившуюся тьму —
Так я бежал когда-то, ослепленный,
От следования Слову Твоему.

И мир померк, и духу стало тесно,
И Бездна отворилась предо мной,
Но верил я, что и для падших в Бездну
Ты, недвижим, пребудешь за спиной.

Когда же Страж на дверь обрушил молот,
Закрыв мне отступ к Свету бытия,
Я оглянулся, сердцем чуя холод,
И вот, мой Бог, здесь не было Тебя.

Так смерть опережает Смерть Вторая
И делает бессмысленной канву.
С тех пор я слышу — и не постигаю,
С тех пор живу — как будто не живу.

Лишь память, ненадежная обитель,
Хранит залог надежды неземной.
Я жду — разбивши ковы, Искупитель
От Крестной Жертвы явится за мной.

God! How hopeless are all attempts
Through dumbness to approach You.
Among many rights, only the right to make a mistake

from following Thy word.

And the world was darkened and the spirit was cramped,
And the abyss opened before me,
But I believed that even for those who have fallen into the Abyss.
Thou, immovable, wouldst remain behind me.

When the Guardian brought his hammer down on the door,
to close the door to the Light of Being,
I looked round, my heart feeling cold,
And behold, my God, you were not here.

So death precedes Death Two
And renders meaningless
Since then I've been hearing and not knowing,
Since then I live as if I were not living.

Only memory, an unreliable dwelling,
keeps the pledge of an unearthly hope.
I wait for the Redeemer to break the cows.
will come for me from the Sacrifice of the Cross.
