Love s funeral
Standing at the edge of a grave?
Don't they remember who they are
And all the promises they gave?
Don't the ropes burn their fingers
As they lower the coffin down?
Don't their faces hurt from wearing
That remourseful twisted frown?
How could it be that we're those srangers
Torn to the pieces by a lie?
How could we push love down the hill
And simply watch it crash and die?
It's freezing, wet and lonely
And no one's here but you and me
Is this what happens in the end?
Is that how it's all meant to be?
You take a lungful of the rain
That sends you to the ground coughing
You catch your breath, you close your eyes
And shove the mud over the coffin
We brush the dirt from our knees
And say a prayer, standing close
You drop a flower to the ground
A single fire-colored rose
Painful thoughts and quiet tears
And the words we've never said...
A piece of stone's a silent proof
That our love is officialy dead
