It was at school; imagine a classroom full of students
A teacher asked the kids if God really exists.
A hum of voices stopped, one the kids was prudent,
“A sure thing” – he answered, “God always exists”.
“Did he create everything in this world?” – The teacher asked.
The boy said – “Yes, He did”.
“And if it’s true, then God created evil” – the teacher still persisted,
“And furthermore, according to the principle that our deeds define ourselves – God is but evil”.
The baffled kid just blushed, having had none to say, he hushed.
Professor stood with a complacent smile
As he have “proved” again that God is nothing, but a myth.
But little did he know, the other student raised his hand and spoke:
- “Professor, you don’t mind if I ask you a question. Do you?”
- “No, not at all, my dear, go ahead”.
- “Professor, does the cold exist?”
- “Oh, what a question! Of course it does. Or probably you’ve never felt it?”
And all at once, the rest of class began to laugh at the boy’s question.
But seemed he didn’t care, not a bit, as he went on:
- “Virtually, sir, the cold does not exist.
According to the physics law, what we believe to be the cold
Is nothing, but a lack of heat,
And hence the cold doesn’t exist.
We just coined this term in order to describe
What people feel when heat is absent”.
The student hasn’t finished yet proceeding with another question
- “Professor, does the dark exist?”
- “A sure thing”, - professor said
- “You are mistaken yet again”, - the boy answered at once
“Darkness is just a lack of light.
We can study the light, but we can’t do the same with darkness.
We’re able to use the Newton prism.
You can disintegrate the light and scrutinize different waves of every color,
But you can’t measure darkness.
A simple beam of light can break into the world of darkness and light it up!
How can you know how dark is any space?
Only by measuring the quantity of light.
Thus, darkness is a notion, coined to describe
What happens during the lack of light”.   
Staying in breathless suspension, everybody was quiet.
And in the end, the youth have asked:
- “Sir, does evil exist?”
And for this once, professor’s voice didn’t sound confident:
- “Well, as I said we see it every day:
Cruelty, crimes, and violence are all around the world,
And this is just how evil is displayed”.
The student kindly smiled as saying:
- “Sir, there is no evil. At least, no evil for itself.
Evil is nothing, but the lack of God. It’s just like darkness or the cold,
Another word, coined by people, just to describe the lack of God.
While Faith and Love are simply similar to heat and light,
Evil is but a lack of love,
Heavenly Love in a human’s Heart,
Evil is but a lack of love in people’s lives.
It is just like the cold shows up when there’s no heat,
Just like the dark comes in when there’s no light”.
The professor sat down…

My interpretation of the Russian version written by an unknown author
