Wonder

What is a wonder?
Comes like a thunder,
Completely from nowhere
For no reason.
And yet it occurs every day, every season,
Everywhere.

Spirit awakened in a seed set
Dry and seemingly dead.
Why hasn’t it rotten
Saturated with soil’s liquid?
Where was the moment
Of transition from non-existence to being?
What animated it?
What gave it the feeling
That it’s the time and place
to burst into living?
It anchored its foot
To the Earth
And gave the birth
To a new and unique entity
Of a flower, a tree or a blade of grass,
Their souls free from gravity.
Shy or strong, or aware of its beauty.
As precious as any of us,
The people.

Or take a newly-born kitten
Smashing its tiny T-nose
over the warm mother’s belly
in search for a nipple cord.
He did not exist some minutes ago –
And here he is – in repose
After descending to this mundane world.
With his very individual ego,
Taking its first rest after being released.
He came wet and ugly.
But the pain of birth is seized.
With a few devoted licks
By his mother, energetic in her happiness.
She makes her adored kid
So nice and touchy,
as any baby is –
Of a man or of a beast
Of a bird of any breed.

Life came here, a new life.
What will come of it?
What will come to it?
Do not waken the unknown,
Not to pull from the abyss
what mightn’t have happened otherwise.
Let the angels bury all this deep in the skies.
And let us awe, and cherish
the simple wonder
Of  LIFE.
