I Still Believe

I Still Believe

The burning sun is shining bright,
The beams are playing on the ground,
The perfect sky, a game of light,
But there is something more I've found...

I saw a boy among the trees,
I saw him crying all alone
In misty flight of falling leaves,
At place where wild river flows

I am a man - he said to me -
I have already crossed the line,
And now I'm burying all my dreams
I have been holding all this time.

A handful of bright sparkling stones
He had been carrying all those years
With love and care, all alone -
Was wet because of crystal tears.

He made a hole in the sand,
And put the dreams that he had found.
I took one piece of them, before
All they were covered by the ground.

I looked through it - I saw the past,
A little child who wants to grow,
I saw a flight of falling leaves, and sun,
And wild river's flow...

I still believe in all my dreams,
I'll never give them up, I swear.
Somehow, someday I'll find my way.
My home exists, it's out there...

This is brilliant! I like the story, the allegory and its easy flow.
Amazing work.

I have one suggestion on the articles usage. The articles tend to be among the last things to master, because they are discourse-based.

A handful of sparkling stones (no article)

Taking "a" out changes the rhythm, but if you add "bright", it will save the line.

Cheers,
Dina

Thank you, Dina! Actually it was my first poem in English. I wrote it when I was 15. I will think over your suggestions. Thanks again

15? Wow! It is so insightful, so mature... It is quite unusual for a 15 year old. I thought they can only produce sappy love poems… :))
