Forever broken
She’s torn and repelled by the throng.
A sidewalk-trudging twisted mind
All tattered, broken and forlorn.
Her face is streaked with drying tears,
Her mind’s revved up from being scolded.
Her piercing eyes are rimmed with red,
She’s wrought in half and blindfolded.
She lies on the floor that’s concrete or tile-
Red flower’s blooming in the snow,
Like rusty patterns on the steel
Beneath the evening’s brazen glow.
She's taken aback by the chill in her chest,
That drives her closer to the edge.
All she can hear is her own breathing
And crickets singing in the hedge.
She’s robbed of everything she had-
Her life force flows away in streams.
Fresh snowflakes hide with crystal sheet,
What’s left of all her shattered dreams.
She knows, an inky darkness of disgrace
Behind the taunting, blurbs and blether,
Was nothing more than lame attempt
To hide her heart beneath the leather.
