One Little End

I can't forget that clear light,
That scent of burning flesh, that noise.
When our sky became so bright
I heard my own dying voice.

Three hundred years our beast
Was growing proud of itself.
From the wild West to the wild East.
We hoped to heal despotic hell.

But all its youth was over when
We understood: "we are the best"
And all the lands have risen then
From angry East to angry West.

Skyscrapers found their death
And gave its fun to our fools
And burning stars weakening breath
Bring us the doom. And freedom rules!

We wanted freedom, here it is.
The wind's released from our dust.
And I expected end like this
But it's destroying us too fast.

I see the end and people's cry
And Eastern blood on army's hands,
And Russian rockets in the sky,
And Russian hackers in the Net.

Whoever loved us, all's in vain.
We're not the ones whom world will miss,
Empires fall and rise again
Death likes to bring its painful kiss.

Another Rome is to be dead,
New Clovis is to be the king,
Another page is to be read,
Only dark ages cause the spring.

I like that. Very nice!
Thank you!
