It was a golden autumn

It was a golden autumn. But everything was green: grass, leaves and mood, people walking with a grin on their faces. He sent her sms: «I thought you loved me». And he got her sms immediately: «So did I». It was a golden autumn, but too much green.
It was a golden autumn they had been waiting for so long. During the whole summer they were dreaming about their meeting, about their long walks in the park… He imagined how he would pick up autumn leaves and give them to her as a present, he imagined her shrill laughter… She was an inspiration for him. One her word could turn his life upside-down. She wanted him to enter the Moscow University – he did everything to do it. She wanted him to come to her place – whereas she was – he would find her and come. He felt her so much that he could even say in what mood she was at any time.
What a bliss it was for him only to see her! To touch her hand and live in one world with her! And he thought, he even knew that she had the same feelings for him! He was the happiest man in the world!
So one day he was walking along one of Moscow streets, thinking about her. He imagined how she was enjoying herself on the sunny beach, her tanned body was covered with drops of water, that were iridescent under the Southern sun… And suddenly he cast his glance at the window of the cafй. She was there. She was laughing gaily and looking tenderly at the boy, sitting next to her… A single glance can speak volumes…
He turned round and stood still. He still couldn`t believe his eyes. He turned his head and saw his girl again. She saw him at that moment too, but didn`t show it.
He went away. He was overpowered. Silly man, he trusted her as he couldn`t trust even himself! But now he got her number, and how couldn`t he understand it before?! She couldn`t love him, as he was only a poor builder, and she… she was the most beautiful girl he had ever seen!... But how could she betray him?! He couldn`t believe it…
At that time his girl was in the cafй sitting with her friend…
- Thank you, Nick, that you agreed to help me. You can`t even imagine, how difficult it was to act in such a way!.. You know, I have never thought that he could do such an awful thing! To change me for Sarah – what a fool he must be to do it! Thank you so much, my dearest, that you told me everything about it!
Nick kissed her tenderly on the lips and said:
       - You shouldn`t say such words to me – it was my duty to do it!
And after it he said to himself: *Now, when I`ve told her this lie, when she hates him so much – she will be mine*.
«I thought you loved me» - saw Julia at the display of her mobile phone.
«So did I» - she answered.
