The False Prophet

You really think that I don’t know
the light from dark nor friend from foe?
Oh yes, these are uncertain times,
our world is plagued with tragic crimes,
with men like you that seek the soul,
to watch it burn your only goal.
You mingle with the hypocrite
to reap the fields to fill the pit.
How sad it is to watch you sow
malevolence where e’re you go.
A far worse fate than mortal sin
awaits the host of demons’ den.
Oh yes, my friend, I love you dear,
an enemy one must keep near,
but love divine by grace my fate;
not even you this heart can hate!

I have already praised your verse Dear Sue. It is excellent in all respects and there is no surprise that Michael did so well as well. Particularly, give attention to his very cunning and graceful antitheses and concluding two lines very naturally entailed by the graceful antitheses.
