You Speak Again

Сайрин, спасибо тебе!
К.
Bravo! You took a microscope and studied
The quiet, feeble movements of my soul.
“Breathe” and “Don’t breathe” so expertly commanded,
A doctor, heart x-raying was your goal.
And inch by inch you lanced the scars that covered
My map of life. And God, it hurt like hell!
My tears of pain were labelled simply “drama,”
“Caprices! You’re not serious,” you’d tell.
The deal I signed is very strange indeed:
Bequeathing youth to centuries to come.
To this, my friend, you willingly agreed
And said I’d answer for its outcome.
The fog again has gathered by the shores,
And oceans are the one thing that I hate.
Your fault… is turned to be my fault once more,
And once again I lick my wounds and wait.
You say tomorrow brings a change no doubt.
It’s funny. And “tomorrow’s” never here.
You promise morrow will provide an easy route.
I’m hopeless, and I’m used to it, my dear.
I guess the angels have a way of knowing
Who’s right, who’s wrong. It doesn’t really count.
You speak of pain, but for yourself imploring;
My pain for you… well, isn’t worth a sound.
