My dog has died

My dog has died. In pain of her decline,
She couldn't wait till I'd be back to share it.
She was not just a dog, but dear friend,
My other half; and she has gone forever.

She will not lick my hands again, no more,
She will not sit aside to catch my glances,
She will not feel my worries or dislikes
As she did do, a part of mine for years.

My dear dog, farewell, alas, farewell.
I wish we'll meet again, in better future.
You were so good, so very good were you -
Some people can't compare with all your merits.

And those of them who blame the helpless dogs,
They miss not fun, but happiness of sharing.
My dog, I know after seven years:
You were my friend - and you remain, and will be.
